It’s hard to choose a favorite season because I get excited for each one, but spring may be the most magical, with new life emerging everywhere! I am always itching to get out there and play in the dirt with plants. My gardens surround Seanook, Paradise Cottage, and my Studio.
“I welcome guests to enjoy my gardens. From May through November there are new colorful and pretty things to see, including the lush greenery that provides interest with leaves of different shades, shapes, and sizes.”
Back in 2009, several large trees were removed from the land beside the Studio to make way for a new septic system. The Studio Garden was installed in the cleared area, where it flourished for 15 years. Ultimately, that leach field proved to be inadequate. In October of 2024, we carefully dug up the Studio Garden’s plants and transferred them to our raised garden beds across the road to make way for the construction of a new leach field.
In Spring 2025, I was delighted to find that the plants had survived the winter. I dragged every living thing back up the hill, divided many, and placed them in my newly expanded and redesigned Studio Garden. I am excited to see my beloved plants thriving here again!
More about the gardens will be included in future blog posts. Stay tuned.
